Rules - help us learn how to interact, live healthy and useful lives. Rules that are just, are necessary.
So many news items which we need to understand as we try to regain our liberty, equality, security, justice, health, education, welfare, community welfare and our Nation. Perhaps if we go back to our foundation "rules" and apply them we will learn what is wrong.
Our "representative" Congress decided;
War ending shot down and huge oil Company's tax breaks continue as republicans still rule. (think of it as a mandatory donation from your pay check to fund those poor oil company's.)
With presidential veto and to many republicans in the Senate who can support his veto, the issue of deployment of "the war", impeachment, and other necessary legislation is stalled.
Let us not forget the foolishness of making fuel from food. We will have fuel to drive to the grocery, but can not afford the food "in-fueled" price.
Double Digit Inflation is Here
I won’t make you wait: it’s 3.2%. For one month. On an annualized basis, that is (without compounding) 38.4%. [annual] It is the highest increase in 34 years, and if you remember the inflation that we endured in the mid 1970s, you know that this does not bode well for next year’s consumer prices. read more: http://www.smirkingchimp.com/node/11595
[Democrats made some progress over the Republican's continual objection. Thankfully they were able to stop funding further Nuke making plus initial steps on Cluster bombs and Energy.
[Next step stop the use of US Cluster bombs.]
Is it conceivable that Al Qaeda, as defined by President Bush as the center of a vast and well-organized international terrorist conspiracy, does not exist? To even raise the question amid all the officially inspired hysteria is heretical. Yet a brilliant new BBC film produced by one of Britain's leading documentary filmmakers systematically challenges this. "The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear" ... http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/power_of_nightmares.php
argues coherently that much of what we have been told about the threat of international terrorism "is a fantasy that has been exaggerated and distorted by politicians. It is a dark illusion that has spread unquestioned ... around the world." Why have we heard so much frightening talk about "dirty bombs" when experts say it is panic rather than radioactivity that would kill people? Why did Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld claim on "Meet the Press" in 2001 that Al Qaeda controlled massive high-tech cave complexes in Afghanistan, when British and U.S. military forces later found no such thing? The film ... directly challenges the conventional wisdom by making a powerful case that the Bush administration, led by a tight-knit cabal of Machiavellian neoconservatives, has seized upon the false image of a unified international terrorist threat to replace the expired Soviet empire in order to push a political agenda. "The nightmare vision of a uniquely powerful hidden organization waiting to strike our societies is an illusion. Wherever one looks for this Al Qaeda organization, from the mountains of Afghanistan to the 'sleeper cells' in America, the British and Americans are chasing a phantom enemy."

Time to provide capitalism with some LAW to follow, we have law to follow. Rules are necessary.
If you have not been in an alternative bookstore lately, it is possible that you have missed the news about indigo children. They represent "perhaps the most exciting, albeit odd, change in basic human nature that has ever been observed and documented," Lee Carroll and Jan Tober write in The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived. The book has sold 250,000 copies since 1999 and has spawned a cottage industry of books about indigo children. In The Indigo Children, Mr. Carroll and Ms. Tober define the phenomenon. Indigos, they write, share traits like high I.Q., acute intuition, self-confidence, resistance to authority and disruptive tendencies, which are often diagnosed as attention-deficit disorder, known as A.D.D., or attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or A.D.H.D. "These children are the answers to the prayers we all have for peace," said Doreen Virtue, a former psychotherapist for adolescents who now writes books and lectures on indigo children. She calls the indigos a leap in human evolution. "They're vigilant about cleaning the earth of social ills and corruption, and increasing integrity." Marjorie Jackson, a tai chi and yoga teacher....said that schools should treat children more like adults, rather than placing them in "fear-based, constrictive, no-choice environments, where they explode."
Note: ABC has a six-minute news clip on these special children available here. For another amazingly inspiring video clip of one of these unusual children, click here. For a website dedicated to indigo children, click here

Terrorism worse under GOP

It is time to prepare for the effects of Global Warming !
Chikungunya is a Tropical disease, spread by the tiger mosquitoes. Chikungunya has now invaded Italy, and much of Europe is in danger. It is only a matter of time when these diseases will be prevalent in the USA as temperatures rise and the environment changes to sustain these illness.
After a month of investigation, Italian public health officials discovered that the people of Castiglione di Cervia were, in fact, suffering from a tropical disease, chikungunya, a relative of dengue fever normally found in the Indian Ocean region. But the immigrants spreading the disease were not humans but insects: tiger mosquitoes, who can thrive in a warming Europe.

The SEINFIELD Option to Iraq / Iran Mideast Mess
The Bush Administration must ignore Iran for the rest of its term (I call this the Seinfeld option – “Do Nothing”), as it has ignored North Korea (since the start of the second term), and also immediately initiate another “six-countries” round of talks on implementing the Biden-Gelb plan for Iraq. If President Bush immediately executes the Seinfeld option on Iran and Biden-Gelb (+Six Neighbors) Plan for Iraq, I am confident that we will see crude oil prices sink below $50 a barrel and domestic gas at the pump under $2/gallon by the fall! More importantly, we will witness a more stable Middle East and a concomitant increase in our standing in the world.

Why the ol health insurance solution doesn't work !
It's like a story straight out of the movie SiCKO.
A pretty 17-year-old California girl needed a liver transplant, but her insurance company, CIGNA (based right here in Philadelphia), said they would not pay for it.

It is high time people get over the labels of socialism, capitalism and all the ism's. We need to do what works for us in our community's, our National community. We are a social people. Indeed we need others! We can not provide carpentry, plumbing, electrical, accounting, police, fire, research, food, clothing, sewer, etc. all alone. We rely on each other (social) and we really need to work together to accomplish useful lives. We are born with nothing. To become capable responsible adults each child needs; health, education and welfare. Once becoming adult the adult pays "taxes" which are like repayment for the services received from birth to adulthood, as well as services such as roads, sewer, water, security etc. provided by community.
A National Health plan is the only way to provide Health for all. We already "pay" for many who have been disabled by work, illness etc. through SSI. Why are not those grand insurance company's paying ? They have long sent those who had insurance packing. It is built into the system. If you become unable to work, you can not pay premiums, thus you are "un-enrolled" from insurance policy. Never mind that your disability was incurred while "insured". The medical and maintenance costs are now the responsibility of government. So why not provide all medical and disability through the government to start with? Insurance gleans the premium while you are well, the government pays the expense if you get seriously ill.
Wars Cost $15 Billion a Month, GOP Senator Says
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/122707M.shtml
Walter Pincus reports for The Washington Post, "The latest estimate of the growing costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the worldwide battle against terrorism -- nearly $15 billion a month -- came last week from one of the Senate's leading proponents of a continued US military presence in I

A.the fair tax and even then you would get your wish the rich would pay moreB.The voucher system to be the beginning of the end of government run public schoolC.An end to government interference in adult sexual rights(porn or hell just plain old sodomy)D.An end of the governments intrusion on women’s reproductive rightsE.If you are not catching the trend here, less governmentF.And finally No universal health care. The way it has been proposed. Our government is too corrupt to be responsible for our heath care using such examples as Canada. A system utilizing the free market like they are doing in Massachusetts could work. Where it is a law that everyone must have it. Unfortunately right now Massachusetts is the only one doing it so they have to subsidize the insurance companies. If the entirety of the United States were doing it we could drop subsidizing, take it away from big business and the insurance companies would have to scramble and compete for our money like auto insurance has to now. The poor and the almost all children already have a system in place for socialized health care.
Thanks mmmhollywould for your comments. A. Of course we need a fair tax system, perhaps including a federal "sales tax". B. The "voucher system" leaves the schools run by a corporation, not the parents or community. This leaves the payer of the voucher (government) running the school. Public schools run by the public and financed by community government provide the best oversite. C. Government must be restricted in what jurisdiction it has. Government must not be allowed to legislate our rights away including sexual, employment, our own morality based on religion or non-religious principles. D. All women's rights as well as all minority's must be accepted. We either have rights or we do not. Equality suffers greatly from controlling hands. E. We need government but a different form than we have. Government must be the tool of the people, not the ruler of the people. The people in assembly shall decide what government is to do and require government accountability. But less or no government is not the answer. F. Canada shows it's superiority in Canadians living longer, children health better, cost much less than the "free market" unregulated capitalistic system we now have.
